Hurricane Omar Hits Nevis

Some tell me that I need to come back to REALITY, but I thought I'd share some pics with you all and show you some of the damage that was done to Nevis by Hurricane Omar. As many of you know, I head out to one of my ALL time favorite vacation spots in the world every year around Christmas time with the Riese's, but plans have changed :( The island and Four Season Resort that we stay at has been shut down till after the first of the year due to the damage. So I was talking to my sister the day that I found out about this, and I was totally sad when I heard the news. So I called her to talk about it, and she was like "I'm sorry but I don't have any sympathy for you right now. Are you listening to what you're saying? Oh, I'm sorry, she said, you poor thing!" I interrupted her to say what are you talking about? This is horrible... and then she cut back in to say, "I'm sorry Jessica you have to come back to reality for a minute." I was like "what?" I just can't sympathize with you right now, she said "you know... it's just so sad that you have to VENTURE OFF to a NEW ISLAND... you poor thing!" All of the sudden I realized, she saying I'm talking like I'm this spoiled brat, and how I'm complaining that my favorite vacation spot has been destroyed. But in all reality I was just trying to tell her how sad I was for the people there as I've been able to get to know some of them over the years. Not to mention all of the memories that have been made there.When I saw the pics I was devastated! This is actually the 2nd or 3rd time in 10yrs that resort has been hit. Anyway, Ash and I had to laugh about this whole conversation a day later because she was having a rough day when I called her with the news (it was actually the day that Casey left for a month for his rotation- boo!). We had a really good laugh about it.

"One Up" Trip to Vegas

Where do I start? I think that I should start by telling you that I was in TOTAL shock when our friend Kevin showed up at the airport in this hideous outfit... but was definitely one of the highlights of our trip as many more outfits came about on the trip. Kevin received the best reactions from those around us. When it really comes down to it... the whole trip = FUN, FUN, FUN! I'm wondering if there is such thing as having too much FUN? Seriously, I don't think there was a moment that we wern't laughing. I'm pretty sure that I was even laughing in my sleep. I talk in my sleep, so why not laugh in my sleep. My stomach muscles are still hurting, okay they're not. But I did laugh a lot. and who knew? I didn't EVER think that I would actually purchase a plane ticket to Vegas. That's really the last place I would choose to vacation, but when I found out Justin Timberlake and Friends would be there in concert, and that I could be there to celebrate Lindsay's bday, and take a quick road trip back to SLC to go to Lainie's baby shower all in the same weekend.I thought it was a great idea! Vegas sounded better than ever. You know cause who needs sleep these days? I could easily pull this off... work 4 days in a row, fly out Thursday night, get to LV at 12:30am, play, play, play, drive back to UT, run to the baby shower, and head to the airport for a 12:10am flight back to NY... sounds good on paper, right? When all was said and done, YES, I had a blast, but was quite exhausted the next few days.

Back to the beginning of another blog!

Oh, the blogging world! Where life has taken everyone... where we can learn and see so much about those around us. It's quite amazing really, and even more amazing that I've created another blog. Let's see if I'm able to keep up on this one. It's only the fourth blog I've created for one reason or another. Woot woot! So fun! 

In all reality, what gets me is that we don't even have to pick up the phone or communicate by hand written letters any more. It's all in the click of a few buttons on the keyboard of our computers. 1, 2, 3 click, click, click and boom we're able to venture out and see what everyone's up to these days. Speaking of, I'm was just sitting here with my sis, Mel, and Dave tonight when we were sharing pics and what not on the computer, and then we came across a few family blogs and wouldn't you know it... when I clicked on Lynsie and Joey's blog- we found out they're prego! What, what, the Total Package is what??? Yep, that's right, "PREGO" and due in March- AWESOME! But not so awesome to have to find out through a blog! Ok, I'll take it! I can hardly wait to meet this little babe! It's just the fact that I found out from a BLOG! I thought we were closer than that :) How excited am I right now? The fam just keeps growing and growing, and growing. And as Grandma and Grandpa Harris would say "look at what we've started!" Love it-I wouldn't have it any other way!
